Landcare has taken ownership and responsibility for one of the UK’s largest, permitted hazardous waste landfill facilities at Bradley Park, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
The site had been owned and operated by chemical giants, Syngenta Ltd, but was deemed surplus to requirements and a secure exit was sought. Full freehold, liability and permit transfer was achieved following an extensive due diligence process, based on open disclosure over a period of months, to the satisfaction of all parties.
Bradley Park Waste Management will operate the site, providing hazardous waste disposal capacity to the region for the next 15 years.
Delivery of a high quality restoration of the site will run concurrently with waste operations. Funding has been emplaced to cover future aftercare and monitoring post completion of the site in agreement with the Environment Agency, whose consent was required for the transfer.
Landcare is now responsible for over 3,000 acres of land throughout the UK and mainland Europe and enjoys an enviable client base throughout the European chemicals sector.
